Stepping into a New Season!
“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.“Ecclesiastes 3:1 (MEV)
To say 2020 has been a challenging year is an understatement! It’s a new season and if you’re like so many others in our community, you’re ready for a change. But are any of us really prepared?
A new season can certainly be a time of concern or surprises but today’s change of season is wide open for anxiety and doubt. There are so many unknowns right now, questions like “will I find a job?” or “how will I make my house payment?” or “will my children ever return to school?”
It’s natural to wonder what these months of transition and change will yield in our lives. This is when the anticipation turns to anxiousness, as the “what ifs” parade through our minds. Will we bear fruit? Will we walk into new opportunities? Will this season of our lives be one of hurting or healing, lack or abundance, hardship or happiness?
In every season, we should take comfort as Believers that no matter the changes we may face, our Lord is the same yesterday, today and forever! Regardless of the seasons or the circumstances, He is eternally unchanging.
“Take heart, I have overcome the world,” Jesus tells us in John 16:33.
Because he has gone before us we can choose that this NEW season will be a transition, not a defeat; a nudging leading us from a Summer of uncertainty and despair to a Fall full of expectation and possibility. Yes, there are still unanswered questions. Yet even greater than those questions is the power of true HOPE through God’s providence! Hope and Trust in God can make all our doubts and anxiety fade into His everlasting light.
In times of uncertainty, one of my favorite passages of Scripture is from Proverbs 3: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not trust in your own understanding. Agree with Him in all your ways, and He will make your paths straight.” Every time I return to these words I realize that nothing is beyond God’s power to overcome.
Rather than fearing the unknown or having doubts during a new season, spend time with God and watch the veil of darkness disappear from your heart and mind. Then ask Him in your prayers, “Lord, please guide me, help me trust you in all things and all seasons.”
This week, I’ve included a handful of Scriptures I keep close to my heart during times of change. Let’s praise Him and trust Him in every season of our lives.
“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good! His loving-kindness lasts forever!” Psalm 107:1
“Give all your cares to the Lord and He will give you strength. He will never let those who are right with Him be shaken.”Psalm 55:22
“I will show you and teach you in the way you should go. I will tell you what to do with My eye upon you.”Psalm 32:8
“The earth is the Lord’s, and all that is in it, the world, and all who live in it.” Psalm 24:1
Blessings.
