Dr. Alison Cook – Empowering Women to Experience a Loving God Who is For Them.
Dr. Alison Cook is a psychologist and writer who empowers women to heal from past wounds, develop a strong sense of self, forge healthy relationships with others, and experience a loving God who is for them. Her weekly email and podcast reach more than 70,000 people each week. She specializes in bringing faith and psychology together to create real change in people’s lives.
Her first book, Boundaries for Your Soul, is a faith-based adaptation of the fast growing, evidence-based Internal Family System (IFS) model of therapy. It provides a step-by-step approach to managing emotions in partnership with God. Her newest book, The Best of You, teaches women how to develop a strong sense of self, set wise limits, and forge healthy relationships with others.
Prior to her work in counseling, Alison was a congressional aid on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. and taught at Phillips Exeter Academy, Denver Seminary, and the Wyoming State Girls’ School for adjudicated teens.
Originally from Wyoming, Alison studied at Dartmouth College (BA), Denver Seminary (MA), and the University of Denver (PhD), where she specialized in integrating psychology and theology. Alison’s doctoral dissertation centered on the relationship between religion and prejudice. She is certified in Internal Family Systems Therapy.
Alison and her husband, Joe, are the parents of two adult children. They are based out of Boston and spend time in the mountains of Wyoming as often as they can.
