The Holiday Collection!
“So, my very dear friends, don’t get thrown off course. Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle. He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us off as the crown of all his creatures.” James 1:17-18 (MSG)
Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday – not the most revered, not the holiest, not the most sacred. But as holidays go, I love everything Thanksgiving represents.
As we all continue recovering from a long weekend of Thanksgiving celebrations with family, friends, and neighbors, I wanted to pause and reflect on a profound lesson I learned many years ago.
Scripture teaches that God created us to receive and share the power of gratitude every moment of the year, not just during the Thanksgiving holiday (2 Corinthians 4:15).
When we offer praise and thanksgiving to our creator, we deepen the joy in the hearts of everyone around us while reflecting the joy we also feel. When we count our blessings each day, we model God’s goodness.
One of the most powerful ways to express our thanks is through prayer. When our prayer words align with God’s will, we experience the peace and joy of having a heart of gratitude.
This week, we’ve featured a collection of gifts, ideas, and traditions that spoke to our hearts. At the center of these is the powerful and healing power of gratitude. We hope you and your family continue finding peace and grace through grateful hearts.
O Lord our God and heavenly Father,
In Your indescribable mercy
You have provided food and drink for the nourishment of our weak bodies.
Grant us peace to use these gifts from Your hands with thankful, reverent hearts.
Let Your blessing rest on these Your gifts,to our comfort and sustenance.
Grant, good Lord, that as we hunger and thirst for this food for our bodies, so may our souls earnestly long after the Bread of eternal Life, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Amen.
May God always guide your path.
